Hybrid Steering Diode Thyristor Arrays for Circuit Protection in Network Applications
PGBT2504 and PGBT3304 Press Release
The New Components Are Specifically Suited for Common Networking Interfaces Like Gigabit Ethernet in Industries Including Aerospace and Military
ProTek Devices has unveiled two differential-mode, fast transient protection hybrid steering diode / thyristor arrays targeting circuit protection in common networking interfaces such as Gigabit Ethernet, 2.5GbE, RJ-45 connectors, and LVDS interfaces. They are ideally suited for aerospace and military industries, as well as other high-performance demanding applications.
The PGBT2504 and PGBT3304 components feature ultra-low capacitance of I/O – I/O: 1.0pF, typical and very low clamping voltage. They allow more current handling and protect two-pair data lines, offering electrostatic discharge protection (ESD protection) greater than 25 kilovolts. They also boast 500 watts peak pulse power (I/O – I/O [typical = 8/20 microseconds]).

These devices, with the external addition of 10 Ohm resistors per data line, can withstand pin injection levels per DO-160G requirements. In addition, the PGBT2504 and PGBT3304 meet IEC standards requirements for 61000-4-2 (ESD): air plus / minus 15kV, contact plus / minus 8kV; and for 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A, 5/50ns; as well as for 61000-4-5 (surge): 30A, 8/20 microseconds, level 2 (WF5A), with a 10 Ohm resistor per line (external). The components are also RoHS and REACH compliant.
Mechanical Characteristics
The PGBT2504 and PGBT3304 are provided in a molded JEDEC DFN-10 package with an approximate weight of only 7 milligrams. Other mechanical characteristics include lead-free pure-tin plating (annealed) and a solder reflow temperature of 260 degrees Celsius for 10 seconds. They also carry a flammability rating of UL 94V-0.
