The New Series Offers Superior Performance Compared with MLV Technologies and is Ideal in Smartphones, Laptops and Other Popular Portable Electronics
ProTek Devices has introduced a series of TVS arrays suited for circuit protection in portable electronics like smartphones, laptops, and other similar portable electronics, to guard against damaging electrical transients like electrostatic discharges. The PHS505/C series of silicon-based diodes offer superior clamping voltage and performance compared to other technologies, such as MLVs.
The PHS505/C series can be used as a single line protector in either a bidirectional or unidirectional configuration. In unidirectional / bidirectional mode, it offers 500 watts / 400 watts peak pulse power per line (typical = 8/20 microseconds), respectively. Protection is offered for one power or I/O port. ESD circuit protection is greater than 25kV. It is compatible with several IEC standards that include 61000-4-2 (ESD): air plus or minus 15kV, contact plus or minus 8kV; with 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A – 5/50ns; and with 61000-4-5 (surge): 24A, 8/20 microseconds level 2 (line ground) and level 3 (line-line). The series has components available in multiple voltages ranging from 5V to 36V. The series are also RoHS and REACH compliant and have a flammability rating of UL 94V-0.
Mechanical Characteristics
The new series is provided in the DFN-2 package, which is similar in size to a SOD-523 package (1.6mm x 0.8mm) and gives the flexibility of placement on the printed circuit board for each IO port or voltage bus. The approximate weight is just 3mg. It features lead-free plating. The solder reflow temperature is (pure-tin – Sn, 100) 260-270 degrees Celsius.
