TVS Components Deliver Industrial Application Circuit Protection Against High Voltage Spikes

SM36KWExxA/CA Series

The New Series Targets Applications Like Relay Drives, Motors, Modules and AC/DC

ProTek Devices has introduced a new series of high-powered surface mount transient voltage suppression components (TVS components) for industrial application circuit protection that include relay drives, motor (starts and stops) back EMF, and module lightning protection that includes secondary lightning protection for AC/DC. The new series of components are RTCA DO-160G compliant solutions.

The SM36KWExxA/CA series are designed to protect equipment and systems from the damaging effects of high voltage spikes. These devices provide 36 kilowatts of peak pulse power dissipation for a 10/1000 microseconds waveform. The feature a low clamping voltage, unidirectional and bidirectional configurations, and easy mounting to a printed circuit board. The series are available in multiple voltages, from 16 to 78 volts. Waveforms (pin Injection) three and four are level five and waveform 5A is level four. The series are also RoHS compliant.

Mechanical Characteristics

The surface mount package configuration for the SM36KWExxA/CA series provides a lower profile compared to legacy axial lead package configurations. The series are provided on a molded surface mount package with lead-free 100 percent tin plating. The solder reflow temperature is 260-270 degrees Celsius, 10 seconds, and it holds a flammability rating of UL 94V-0. The series is offered on 24mm tape and reel, per EIA standard 481 in quantities from 1,000.
